Co-operative Business Institute
The Cooperative Business Institute (CBI) is a comprehensive training program designed to
equip workers with the skills and resources necessary to establish and manage their own
worker cooperative business. Rooted in popular education, this 16-week course offers
participants a deep understanding of the worker cooperative model, the green economy,
and the legal, organizational and business aspects specific to cooperatives. While the
course itself is 16-weeks-long, the program as a whole is set up to span a year, from initial
training to the planning and implementation of the business. Once participants complete
the course, the program shifts to a more hands-on development phase with TCWC technical
assistance providers guiding graduates through the process of establishing their own
cooperative business.
